The Fitcamx dash cam for the Toyota Camry XV70 is engineered specifically for the 8th generation Camry produced from 2018 through to 2026. Unlike generic dash cams that clip onto a windshield or suction to the glass, this unit replaces the original rear view mirror back cover with a purpose-made housing that integrates the camera directly into the mirror assembly. The result is a factory-fitted appearance that is indistinguishable from the standard interior, with no exposed wires, no suction mounts, and no obstruction to the driver’s line of sight.

Important Fitment Note

This dash cam is not compatible with Camry XV70 variants that do not have a large rear view mirror cover. Before purchasing, confirm your vehicle has the correct mirror cover type. Fitcamx recommends providing your model year and a photo of the front and side of your rear view mirror cover prior to ordering to ensure the correct unit is supplied.

OEM Appearance and Hidden Installation

The Fitcamx housing is a 1:1 dimensional match for the original Toyota Camry XV70 rearview mirror back cover. Installation involves removing the factory cover and fitting the Fitcamx unit in its place, a process that can be completed in a short time using the included pry tool. The dash cam lens sits concealed within the housing, maintaining the clean, low-profile look of the original interior. There is no visible camera, no bracket, and no adhesive residue on the windshield.

4K Ultra HD Recording

The camera records at 3840 x 2160 resolution (4K UHD) at 30 frames per second, powered by a Novatek chipset and a GC4653 CMOS imaging sensor. The f/1.6 aperture lens captures significantly more light than narrower aperture cameras, which translates to improved image quality in overcast conditions and at dawn and dusk. Video is encoded in H.265 format and saved to a microSD card in TS file format.

Night Vision and Wide Dynamic Range

The camera uses wide dynamic range technology to balance exposure across high-contrast scenes, such as brightly lit streets alongside shadowed areas. This prevents headlights from washing out the frame while ensuring darker sections of the road remain visible. The NightShot function enhances low-light performance further, producing clear footage of license plates and road signage in nighttime driving conditions.

Loop Recording and G-Sensor

The dash cam operates on continuous loop recording, automatically overwriting the oldest footage when the memory card reaches capacity. The built-in G-Sensor monitors for sudden impact forces. When a collision is detected, the G-Sensor immediately locks the relevant footage and prevents it from being overwritten by the loop cycle. This protects critical incident evidence without requiring the driver to intervene.

WiFi and FITCAMX App

The camera connects via 2.4GHz WiFi to the FITCAMX app, available for both iOS and Android. The app provides live preview, video playback, camera settings control, and file management directly from a smartphone without requiring a computer or card reader. The app does not require account creation or phone number registration. WiFi connects one device at a time. The camera does not need to be connected to the app during normal driving; it powers on and begins recording automatically when the ignition starts, and shuts down when the ignition is turned off.

Power and Installation Options

The default power cable connects to the ACC sensor, which is a plug-and-play solution requiring no permanent wiring modifications. Fuse box power and OBD power cables are also supported across all models for those who prefer a cleaner installation. If fuse box or OBD cabling is required instead of the default ACC cable, this should be requested before the order is dispatched.

Configuration Options

Three variants are available. The 4K Front Cam with 64GB card records front-facing footage only. The 2K Dual Cam with 64GB card adds a 1080P rear camera recording at 1440P front. The 4K Dual Cam with 128GB card delivers 4K front and 1080P rear coverage. The rear camera on dual-cam versions mounts on the rear windshield or faces the cabin depending on preference, and offers 360-degree rotation for positioning flexibility. Note that the rear camera is not waterproof.
