The Audi A3 and S3 8V generation (2013-2018) ships with a competent MMI infotainment system, but it predates wireless CarPlay and Android Auto entirely. This CARABC interface adapter retrofits full wireless smartphone integration directly into the factory system — no screen replacement, no wiring harness modifications, and no permanent changes to the vehicle.
The adapter connects via the factory USB port in a plug-and-play configuration. It works with all three MMI screen sizes fitted to the 8V platform: 5.6-inch, 6.3-inch, and 7-inch displays. Controls: the adapter retains full steering wheel button functionality. CarPlay and Android Auto are also controllable via the factory MMI touch controls. Siri voice activation works by saying “Hey Siri” through the system. Switching between the CarPlay interface and the standard MMI display is handled through the existing factory controls at any time.
